News: Andrew Weatherall Dies Aged 56

We have just learned the immeasurably sad news that Andrew Weatherall has passed away in the early hours of this morning. The Waveform Transmitter’s Ste Knight reports.

Today, the entire electronic music industry is mourning the tragic loss of one of its most pioneering figures. Andrew Weatherall, who brought us Two Lone Swordsmen alongside Keith TenniswoodThe Sabres of Paradise, and A Love From Outer Space, sadly passed during the early hours of this morning at Whipps Cross Hospital in London.

While details remain scarce, the hospital have issued a statement which is as follows:

“The cause of death was a pulmonary embolism. He was being treated in hospital but unfortunately the blood clot reached his heart. His death was swift and peaceful.”

We are sure you will join the Waveform Transmitter in saying a tearful goodbye to The Guv’nor and we offer our most heartfelt and deepest sympathy to the Weatherall family at this difficult time.
