On the Radar: Daniele Di Martino & Solvane – Daarp

Berlin residents Daniele Di Martino & Solvane come galloping out of The Plot Music’s stable with their latest release, Daarp. The Waveform Transmitter’s Ste Knight takes a privileged preview at the record.

Hot on the heels of their January release, Justis, Daniele Di Martino and Solvane make a triumphant return with their latest track, Daarp, due for release on April 24th via Berlin imprint, The Plot Music.

Daarp is a euphorically charged track, overflowing with atmosphere, that features endless sweeps and swells to rouse the spirit within the listener. Sonic nuances such as the vocal sample remain just out of earshot behind the thudding kick drum and other percussive elements, while the pulsating bass line teases in a beautifully arpeggiating lead before the track breaks down and brings the vocal element to the fore.

This all adds to the ambience induced by the track, which is reminiscent of the kind of Twin-Peaks Techno (© Rob Draper) produced by Oxia in Domino mode, Herzblut‘s Luna Semara, or Italian trio Agents of Time.

If that describes the original mix in comparative terms, then the 6 am Remix by Hermanez can be likened to something given the Stephan Bodzin treatment. The track is dreamy and heavy laden with additional synth textures and warm, sumptuous pads. Balearic sunrises spring to mind.

Hermanez 3 am Mix flips the coin which lands firmly on ‘peak time’, with a real beast of a kick drum taking the reigns and speeds us up towering builds before plunging us headlong into Marianaic drops that are sure to be destroying dancefloors come April 24th.

Björn Störig allows the arpeggiated lead to take centre stage on his spacious remix, which adds a cosmic touch to the sound. The manner in which Störig glitches out the vocal sample further adds to the futuristic flow of the remix.

Daarp (Incl. Hermanez and Björn Störig remixes) will be released on Beatport promo April 10th  / Full release April 24th on The Plot Music. In the meantime check out Hermanez‘ 3 am Mix, below.
